I like to keep my online traffic school reviews as updated as possible, so now that the new year is ringing in, I thought I’d create this updated list of the best online traffic schools for 2023. As a certified driving instructor, I have a bit more knowledge about these online traffic schools than most others. In most states, there is a list of approved online traffic schools that you can choose from. Unfortunately, even though a traffic school may be “certified” in your state, that certainly does not mean they are worth signing up for.

How I Determined Which Online Traffic Schools Are The “Best” For 2023
So, what exactly makes an online traffic school the best? As with the rankings I created in previous years, the best online traffic schools for 2023 are simply the fastest, easiest, and cheapest courses you can sign up for.
As someone who has been involved in this industry for many years, I understand that nobody signs up for traffic school by choice. Chances are pretty good you got a traffic ticket that you need to get dismissed. In some states, you can take traffic school anytime to reduce points on your driving record or lower your auto insurance rates. Whatever the case, I know that you just want to get this over as fast and painlessly as possible.
All of the online traffic schools listed above are the fastest, cheapest, and easiest online traffic schools available in 2023. I will get into more detailed reviews for each school but know that you can go with any of those schools and you’ll be in good shape.
These online traffic schools were also chosen based on positive feedback from students on platforms like Yelp, Facebook, TrustPilot, etc. I’ve even scoured other sources like Reddit, Quora, and message boards to determine which online traffic schools are providing the best service in 2023.
And finally, every year I actually go through these online traffic schools myself to see if they have made any changes or upgrades. Due to the changes they make, my list of recommended online traffic schools has changed slightly over the years.
Beware Of “State-Approved” Online Traffic Schools
In most states, you’ll receive a list of state-approved online traffic schools to choose from. You can go to any traffic school on that list, but be very careful about who you choose. The vast majority of online traffic schools are extremely low quality even though they are approved by the state for ticket dismissal purposes.
Why Are The Majority Of Online Traffic School So Bad?
Well, for starters, online traffic school sucks even when they are of high quality. There’s just no getting around the fact that traffic school is boring and just about anyone would rather be doing something else. However, there are other reasons you should be selective about which online traffic school you go to. Here are some of the things you should be careful of:
Courses that take too long: Most online traffic schools are approved in several states. In some states, course timers are required. That means, if a course is supposed to take 6 hours in a classroom, they will force a timer to be used to make sure you really spend 6 hours going through the material. In other states, the course duration may be different, or there may be no course timers required at all. The last thing you want to do is sign up for a traffic school that requires the use of a course timer when your state doesn’t require it. Likewise, if a course timer is required, you want it to be the absolute minimum required by state law. Many online traffic schools will waste much more of your time than necessary.
VERY outdated course content: Perhaps the biggest issue with online traffic schools in 2023 are how outdated they’ve become. Most online traffic schools were developed in the early 2000s with very few updates since then. You’ll be greeted with nothing but page after page of plain text and maybe a few pictures thrown in. Want to take your traffic school from a mobile device like your phone or tablet? Good luck! Some courses work on mobile devices and some don’t. This is how outdated online traffic schools have become, so be sure whoever you sign up for is modern.
Abysmal customer service: Online traffic schools are not known for providing high-quality customer service. In a perfect world, you’d never need to contact them, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong. From identity verification systems failing to completion certificates not being delivered to the court, there are several reasons you may need to contact support. Sitting on hold for an hour and then being connected to someone who lives on the other side of the globe is not ideal.
Hidden fees: One of the least ethical things I see many online traffic schools partake in is adding fees at the end of the course. They may charge a low fee upfront, but when you get to the end, you are slammed with absurd delivery charges, “convenience fees”, or other extra features that you didn’t realize were extra until the end of the course (like course read-along, video options, etc). Unfortunately, hidden fees are very common with online traffic schools, so be very careful about this.
Unclear about state certifications: As I stated earlier, most online traffic schools are certified in several different states. Some schools are very deceitful when it comes to the states they are NOT certified in though. They may use confusing wording to get you to sign up, only for you to find out later that you signed up with a school that isn’t actually court-certified for your particular situation. The online traffic schools listed here will all verify your eligibility so you can avoid this huge waste of time and money.
There are a few other things that online traffic schools do that could be considered pretty shady. That’s partly why I create these lists each year. As long as you stick with one of the online traffic schools I recommend, you’ll be in good shape.
More Detailed Reviews For The Best Online Traffic Schools In 2023
While the quick list above is all most people care to see, some of you like to do extra homework. Each of the best online traffic schools for 2023 is unique in its own ways, so while any of these traffic schools will get the job done, here are some explanations and comparisons of how each online traffic school works as well as what makes them unique.
1. Go To Traffic School
Go To Traffic School is an online traffic school that has been around for decades. They actually started in the 1990s by sending booklets through the mail and having students mail them in. Fortunately, the internet allowed us to do all of this online, and in 1999 Go To Traffic School got on board by launching one of the very first online traffic schools ever.
The big thing that makes Go To Traffic School different from the rest of the best online traffic schools in 2023 is their lowest price guarantee. They promise to be the lowest online traffic school you will find or they will remove $1 from their fee. So, if you’re just looking to get your traffic school done as cheaply as possible, this is a legit option that guarantees to be the cheapest.
Just because Go To Traffic School is cheap doesn’t mean they are low quality though. Just like any other high-quality online traffic school, you can go at your own pace, login and out whenever you’d like, it’s the fastest allowed by state law, and they are actually approved in more states than anyone else on this list. Go To Traffic School is a great option to consider.

2. Best Online Traffic School
Best Online Traffic School stands out among the rest despite being fairly new.
Let’s take a closer look at why this traffic school deserves your attention…
The Best Online Traffic School boasts a modern and intuitive interface. I’m telling you, navigating through the course is a breeze.
Moreover, the lessons are engaging, up-to-date, and comprehensive. Whether busy or during your downtime, you can easily listen to the course voice-over. Yes, there are voice-over lessons here too if you prefer listening to reading.
Best Online Traffic School also doesn’t have course timers. How fast you can absorb the course material is all up to you!
What’s more interesting is they go the extra mile by offering their course in both Chinese and Spanish.
Now, this is where it gets even more exciting.
You don’t need to pay for anything upfront. They offer a 100% free trial of the whole course. You only need to pay $19.99 if you take the final exam.
Looks promising, right?
But it’s worth noting that they currently offer their course to California students only.
Overall, it’s a top-tier option for drivers seeking a smooth and enjoyable traffic school experience.

3. iDriveSafely
iDriveSafely has consistently been one of the best online traffic schools since it first launched about 20 years ago. It is perhaps the single most popular online traffic school in the United States with over 5,000,000 students having gone through their programs already.
The thing is, iDriveSafely doesn’t have any one particular thing going for it. Instead, they are just an overall very high-quality course. From their U.S.-based customer service to how well it works on mobile devices to the course content itself – everything just seems to work well.
I’m not going to say that iDriveSafely is fun or a great course to go through. Traffic school is just boring and there isn’t much that can be done about that. However, in terms of everything simply working the way it should with no hiccups, iDriveSafely has it down to a science.

4. Aceable
Unlike the first two recommendations on this list, Aceable is a newcomer to the online traffic school industry. Usually when researching companies to give our money to, we look for those with experience. In this case, however, Aceable has an advantage by being the new kid on the block.
Unlike most online traffic schools that have become very outdated over the years, Aceable was just developed a few years ago and has continued to see improvements even since they first launched. This is, without a doubt, the most modern online traffic school available in 2023. From videos to interactive games and even a fun mascot that walks you through all the steps, Aceable has taken traffic school to a new level and has set a new standard for quality.
As a specific example, Aceable is the only online traffic school I know of that has an app you can download. That means Aceable isn’t just “mobile-friendly” like most other courses, they have specific platforms for each device you may use. Switch between devices anytime and log in or out at your own leisure. If you plan to take most of your traffic school from your phone, Aceable is probably the one you should go with.

5. Improv Traffic School
One of my personal favorite online traffic schools in 2023 is Improv Traffic School. This is an online traffic school that truly gets it. They know you don’t really care about fancy interfaces, mascots, or whether there is a downloadable app or not. You want to get it done cheaply and you want it to be the least boring course possible. This is where Improv Traffic School has set itself apart.
Improv Traffic School was created by a bunch of Hollywood comedians. They started out by bringing comedy to classroom-based traffic school courses. When traffic school was approved for online study, they created the most entertaining online traffic school they possibly could. Instead of the typical boring traffic school course material, you’ll read jokes, watch funny videos, and even play a few games. In short, they made it the least painful and most entertaining as they possibly could.
While they don’t have a downloadable app, Improv Traffic School works well on all mobile devices. They have customer service available 7 days per week via phone, chat, or email and get your traffic school requirements done in the minimum amount of time necessary depending on your state.

6. DriversEd.com
DriversEd.com was launched way back in the late 1990s as an online driver’s ed course provider for teens. Over the years, they have expanded their services to include online traffic school in several states.
I usually recommend DriversEd.com to teens and young adults. This online traffic school uses much of its course material from its driver’s education coursework for traffic school. Since the driver’s ed coursework is mostly geared towards teenagers, that’s also what the coursework in their online traffic school program is geared towards.
With that said, DriversEd.com will work for anyone of any age. They have some very cool 3D videos, interactive games, and other features to help you stay awake as you go through the coursework. They are usually one of the lowest-priced online traffic schools and also allow you to go through the course as fast as your state allows.

7. Traffic School Online
Traffic School Online has maintained very positive reviews for many years. This is a well-established online traffic school that operates in several states. What I particularly like about Traffic School Online is how everything is. included without any hidden fees at the end. Many online traffic schools love to add on fees at the end of the course, but Traffic School Online doesn’t do this.
Traffic School Online works well on mobile devices and I found the tests and quizzes to be easier than most other online traffic schools. All online traffic schools are pretty easy to pass, but failing a quiz means you have to take it over again, costing you time. With how easy the quizzes are in this course, you may save yourself some time and effort.
This online traffic school also offers a money-back guarantee. You can sign up and start taking the course without any risk as they will give you your money back if you don’t like it.
