Georgia online defensive driving is now available online and that’s some really good news for you. Why? Because taking a defensive driving course in a classroom is brutal. In case you’ve never had the privilege, let me break it down for you. Basically, you spend a good chunk of a perfectly good Saturday sitting in a classroom with a bunch of random strangers who don’t want to be there while you get lectured at about the dangers of driving. It’s one of the worst things imaginable and this is coming from a certified driving instructor! Now, I’m not going to claim taking your Georgia defensive driving course online will solve all of the boredom issues, but there are some clear advantages.
Why You Should Take Your Georgia Defensive Driving Course Online
For starters, with an online course, you can log in and out of the course whenever you want. That means you can do it all in one sitting or complete the course over time. It’s your choice. There are usually some super easy quizzes mixed in and a “final exam” you have to take, but you should be able to pass all that stuff without even going through the course. It’s pretty basic stuff you should already know.
Most courses come with 24/7/365 customer support, have money-back guarantees, and all that other good stuff. Let’s face it, the real reason you want to take a defensive driving course online is that you don’t have to leave the house to do it from your laptop, smartphone, tablet, or computer. Heck, you can complete the course while sitting in front of your TV watching old reruns of Seinfeld.
Finding A Georgia State Approved Online Defensive Driving Course
I haven’t counted, but there must be 100 or more online defensive driving courses approved in the state of Georgia. If you’re really interested, I’ve provided a list of every approved defensive driving course in Georgia at the bottom of this page. Feel free to go through them all and pick whichever one you like best, but if you’d like to skip all of that, I have a few recommendations I can make.
My Recommended Georgia Online Defensive Driving Courses
My top choice is easily Improv Traffic School. The only real reason they are my top choice is that they successfully turned something as boring as a defensive driving course into something fairly entertaining. The course was created by a bunch of comedians, so it’s filled with hilarious pictures, videos, cartoons, and even a few games thrown in. So if you’re looking for a course that isn’t so darn boring, Improv is a great choice. If you want a more detailed review about the course, check out my full Improv Traffic School review. Check out one of their goofy commercials below.
You can also check out iDriveSafely if you are looking for a mix of interactive lessons. You get unlimited access to easy-to-follow resource materials such as videos and animations. This school has served almost 17,700 students and almost all of them have given iDriveSafely an ‘excellent’ rating on TrustPilot. You’ll also appreciate their live customer support that is available 24/7 to help you with your troubles in completing the course.
My final recommendation is GeorgiaDriver.com. This online driving school has been in operation since 1996 and they’ve served more than 4 million people. They are definitely one of the most reputable online defensive driving schools out there. They have maintained an A+ Better Business Bureau rating and also have a nice reputation online. This is another excellent option.
How Long Does An Online Georgia Driver Improvement Course Take?
Expect the course to take about 6 hours. For a long time, the state of Georgia did not require a course timer to be used. This was rare because that basically allows people to just cheat and fly through the course in 15 minutes. They are starting to clamp down on this, so just expect it to take the full 6 hours through a timed course. You can still log in and out whenever you want, you just can’t breeze through it like before.
How Much Does a Defensive Driving Course Cost in GA?
It will cost you around $95 to complete a Defensive Driving Course in GA. This is according to the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). This applies if the course is taken for any of the following reasons:
- License reinstatement
- Points reduction
- Court purposes
- Insurance premium reduction
- Educational purposes
Note: Except for insurance and educational purposes, defensive driving courses are generally offered in-person because Georgia has not yet approved any online driving schools for these purposes.
What Happens If I Fail The Final Exam?
Nothing. You just have to take the final exam over again. In Georgia, the online defensive driving course is impossible to fail. Just a heads up – they usually don’t ask you the same questions over and over again. So, if you have to retake it, expect a different batch of questions. The final exam isn’t that hard, but there are some questions you’ll probably get wrong if you didn’t pay any attention at all.
Should I Fight My Traffic Ticket In Court?
Probably not. If you are eligible for a Georgia online defensive driving course, you will most likely wipe all of the points off your record along with the violation itself. It’s like it never happened. Fighting a traffic ticket in Georgia is pretty tough. At the least, you will most likely need to hire a traffic lawyer. With the time spent going to court and/or the money spent on a lawyer, you are better off just spending the time and money on a defensive driving class.
If you do decide to fight the ticket, make sure you check out my special section on traffic ticket advice.
