Another fantastic parent taught drivers ed course is Driver Ed In A Box. This course has been around for a long time and originally began as a traditional home study course, meaning they would send you videos, workbooks, and more directly to your home. Recently, they also added an online version of their program. No matter which one you go with, Driver Ed In A Box does not simply meet the “minimum requirements” by the state. They go above and beyond, providing much more instruction than most other parent taught driver ed courses. However, the course is extremely high quality and it does a great job of helping your teen to retain interest. The course does cost a little bit more than other parent taught drivers ed courses, but most parents seem to think the additional cost is worth it.

Beware Of Very Low Quality Drivers Ed Courses Online
Unfortunately, as I’ve seen with my many reviews, just because a drivers education program is certified as a parent taught drivers ed course does not mean it is actually high quality. Some of these courses are operated by just a few people with almost no customer service available. A large majority of them are also outdated with very low quality videos and “interactive” features. Always request a demo of the course before you sign up or make sure they offer a money-back guarantee.
While you have many additional options besides the courses I’ve listed above, there are very few parent taught drivers ed courses I can actually recommend. The sad truth is, most of the online based courses are low quality and not really worth it. However, if you’re willing to spend a little bit more, the above courses will get the job done.
Don’t Forget About Behind The Wheel Training!
In some states, you (the parent) are allowed to file to be your child’s “driving instructor.” All of the above courses will offer guides for you to put together driving lessons and prepare your teen for the driving exam. However, the DriversEd.com and iDriveSafely programs also offer behind the wheel training. If they do not have their own vehicles and instructors in your area, they will help you find a reputable driving school in your area.
